Nosy Parker (2017)

Why do people want to discover the unknown? What makes them think that if they look through holes they will find something amazing? Why do they assume that pressing a button will do something? What is it that triggers people to do something that isn’t practical or beneficial, but makes a pleasant sound? What is natural behavior and how can we trigger people to do something without them noticing?

I did several tests during this project to see what people would do without instructions and what kind of rewards they needed to fulfill certain actions. I gave the players feedback through light, sound and vocal guidance. I tried to keep the materials as simple as possible and focused on creating an installation that consisted purely out of triggering/inviting objects.
